This is a bit cheeky. Don't think of it as my asking you for money, but my offering you an opportunity to donate. Believe me, I will not be offended if no one takes up this offer.
A colleague & I have both decided that we're fat blokes and decided to do something about it. So we've resolved to do a sponsored slim (thin-a-thon) in aid of oxfam.
On the morning of 1st Jan, I tipped the scales at a very non-svelte 107 kg (16 stone 12 lb). My target is to reduce my weight to by 13 kg / 28 lb by 1st Apr 2004 to 94 kg (can't remember what that is in imperial)
I do a weekly weigh in, on Thursday mornings. This morning i was 97.5 kg, meaning that I've lost 9.5 kg / 21 lb since 1st jan, so I'm on target. The sponsorship that I've raised so far is about £315. If I reach my target, my total sponsorship will be a tad over £490. When the gift tax relief, that Oxfam can claim back is included, my end total should be over £500. That's a very good incentive for me to be a good boy and leave the chips and beer alone.
If any of you want to sponsor me, i'd be grateful and honoured. rather than a flat amount, i'd be grateful for a per kilo or per pound sponsorship (remember that i've already lost 9.5 kg / 21 lb). But feel free to put a maximum on it. you never know, i might pick up a tapeworm between now and 1st April.
if you wish to make a pledge, you can do it publicly by replying to this post or privately by pm or email at celticharlequin@hotmail.com.
Actual payment, after 1st April can be done with a credit card at www.oxfam-thin-a-thon.cjb.net/ or by sending me a cheque, made payable to Oxfam. if you choose the latter and you are a tax payer, you may wish to include a short note stating that you are happy for Oxfam to claim back the tax on your donation via the Gift Aid scheme. if you choose the former method, there's a box you can tick on the website.
I'll post details of my weight losing progress here every Thursday or Frday so that you can see how much money i'm costing you.
There'll be less of me to love, but I'll be no less loveable
